WiFi Issues – Try A Mesh Network

Computer Repair Adelaide Tech Advice

Google WiFi devices & the new Telstra Smart WiFi booster are examples of WiFi using the “mesh network”principal.

WiFi troubleshooting can be a dark art with dead zones caused by solid objects like double-brick walls, whilst at other times being at the mercy of interference from other wireless gear around your home which can interfere with streaming music and video and can be even more complicated if you live in a multi-story home.

Rather than adding Wi-Fi extenders to bounce the signal around your home and sometimes not at the speed you would like, the best option is to upgrade to a “mesh” network.

These work by having multiple wireless base stations around your home and are designed to work in unison.

They will all share the same network name which means your Wi-Fi devices will seamlessly roam between base stations as you move around the house, just like a mobile phone roams between towers.
