Fast startup is a Windows feature that started in Windows 8 and came over to Windows 10.
It was supposed to provide a faster boot time when starting up your PC.
Most people have it turned on without knowing its on , but there are others who disable it immediately when they get their hands on a new PC.
Why would you disable fast startup? – It will not harm anything but Windows computers but there are a few reasons why you may want to disable it.
If you’re using Wake-on-LAN, you may have problems when your PC is shut down with fast startup enabled. You can save some hard drive space that is taken up with the hibernation file. Some power buttons on keyboards may not work and fans in some PCs will continue spinning. Finally, the one I see is that Windows 10 updates might not install properly if you have fast startup enabled.
I disable it on most computers that I see.
