My Visit To The TWIT Studios In Petaluma

I have watched Leo Laporte since I discovered him and Patrick Norton back on the Screen Savers when it was shown on Foxtel many years ago.

Two weeks ago during a trip to the USA I was lucky enough to travel to Petaluma a short drive north out of San Francisco to spend 2 days at the TWIT studios.

It was and is well worth the trip and if you are thinking about doing it details of what you need to do can be found here . Tickets TWIT

I drove up from San Francisco to Petaluma , a short drive and went to the studios and checked in with the security guard who will get you to sign a waiver ( you maybe on the show – I was ) , write your details so Leo knows who you are , and in you go the studio for The TechGuy

On the Saturday I was there I met 3 other people one of whom was an executive for HP.

Leo arrives just before the show starts , let me repeat , just before and the show was away. There is no chance to talk in depth to Leo until after the show when you can have your photo taken sitting behind the desk and Leo gets you to wear a hat.

I then stayed to see the recording of the New Screen Savers and was lucky enough to read the intro.

Sunday I returned for The Tech Guy and This Week In Tech and was able to meet Mike Elgan a journalist i have long admired ( Listen to the segment as he discusses the Samsung debacle with the Note 7 )

The setup is magnificent there as you will see from the photos , the staff are extremely friendly , talkative ( especially Tonya – fellow Walking Dead fan ) and Michael who knew a Richard Pascoe that moved to Australia ( not me ).

At the end of The New Screen Savers there is the opportunity to again get photos and have a quick talk to Leo ( lets face it , he has been talking a lot but is a great host and likes to know about his listeners).

Remember when you see the studio this is a working TV and radio station in the digital age done superbly by all involved , it is an incredibly slick operation ( even when the rain starts to pour – yes I brought rain to California ) and was one of the highlights of my trip to the USA.
