So you are about to buy a plasma , LED  television , dvd / bluray player , dvd recorder etc. The salesman normally stands there and talks about the virtues of the very expensive HDMI cable which he says you will need so that the picture will look it’s best and generally make you feel guilty if you don’t get it. Here is what the salesperson will not tell you. If the HDMI cable that you need to purchase is less than 9 metres ( 30 feet ) it will make no difference and you will waste your money.
