Facebook and Google – I receive enquiries every week from people who lose access to their accounts.
Why does this happen?
Simply you have not secured the account.
You have not turned on 2 factor authentication – this is where you give Facebook and Google your mobile phone number at least so that if anyone is able to guess your password (that’s a whole other subject) you will receive a message with a code on your phone. The person or organisation who has guessed your password cannot get in without that code.
For a start go to security settings in your Google account, this is what you should see.
Fix any issues that are not ticked green.
For Facebook go to Settings and look at Privacy Checkup
